Craftmad has a new Day and venue!

Craftmad is now being held on the 1st Saturday of the month at St Johns Church Hall in Ham East

The 1st Craftmad for the year is Saturday Feb 4th

November Craftmad is coming up fast!

Sunday the 6th of November is a special one, from the 5th - 11th is the SPCA appeal week and in support of this every visitor to Craftmad that brings in a can of cat food will receive a raffle ticket to go into the draw for a crafty goody basket!

Bring as many cans as you like! one ticket per can - no limit! Have a look in the back of the pantry - got some cat food your cat turns it nose up at? - put it to good use and be in to win!

A two week show with an Opening night

involving a runway fashion show & gallery exhibition. A social evening with food and drink tastings.

GUIDELINES

• All work must be ORIGINAL

• All work must be Functional

• All work sold in show will incur a 25% Commission fee

• Each submission requires a $5 entry fee (which will contribute towards food & beverage costs on opening night)

• All work will be subjected to curation - Best work forward please

• All work selected must be made and ready to hang by November 2011

We are looking for entries from anything craft including your usual crafty things, innovative creations etc etc. food and drink producers

Craft Market @ Wintec

As part of the Wintec mid year orientation there will be a Market day on Thursday the 28th of July,with around 16,000 students,Wintec is one of the largest Technology/Polytechnics in New Zealand.

Stalls are inside and cost $30,the market day will run from 10am till 2ish,anyone keen to take part or would like further info can email Peike as soon as possible at peike.Mestrom@wintec.ac.nz

Not long to go to the next Craftmad already! May 1st is the next one - just in time for Mothers Day shopping!!

There have been some changes this year to Craftmad - for the rest of the year Craftmad will only be using the Hall and the front of hall area (for those with gazebos)

There are still some of your favourite stall holders and some new faces this year too!

If you have currently been in the tennis court area and wish to be put on the list to be inside the hall please email me as soon as possible as I'm working on the new hall plan at present mikeandsteph@xtra.co.nz

Also if anyone lives on a busy road or walk way and wouldn't mind a Craftmad poster up on their fence please let me know,the last one I had up at the Flagstaff roundabout on the fence has been taken down never to be seen again by the looks :(

Thanks to all the stallholders and visitors to this months Craftmad, it was a very quiet day competing with Fathers Day and with another major event in town but it is early days yet for Craftmad and we are growing steadily - big thanks to those who have been with us from the start - you have been great support.

Help the SPCA this March at Craftmad

This March Craftmad be in to win Bert & Ernie and help the Waikato SPCA!
It is easy!! all you have to do is bring in a can of catfood (or as many as you like)and receive a raffle ticket and be in the draw to win Bert and Ernie.
For each can of catfood you bring in you receive one ticket - so 5 cans of catfood = 5 raffle tickets!
Raffle will be drawn at 12.30 at Craftmad
Bert and Ernie need to be rehomed together as they are very close and love to do everything together!
As the SPCA has lots of kittens and young cats - plain jellymeat and chicken jelly meat is the best for them but if you have cans of food at home that your cat turns its nose up at - bring them in!

More exciting stalls have being added to next months line up,I am also working on something exciting for the SPCA to help them out with this busy time of year for them known as 'Kitten Season'. This season gets longer and longer each year as the weather stays warmer for longer and this exhausts the SPCA's food supplies greatly.

Wow! fantastic turnout to the first Craftmad market - a big thank you to all the stallholders and visitors to Craftmad yesterday for making it such a great day!!
Next month we will have a handful of new stallholders that couldn't be with us yesterday so please come back and visit us and bring your friends!!
If you couldn't get to talk to me properly yestersday (cos I was running around like a mad chook a lot)come down and see me in March or drop me a line at mikeandsteph@xtra.co.nz.
If you are keen to have a stall at Craftmad I have started a waiting list (as we are chocka at present)and I can put you on there as temporary spots may open up from time to time and will need to be filled.
I managed to take some photos and they can be seen on Flickr, link on side of page - click on the owl!Will get many more photos next time and hopefully some shopping done too.

Wow it is getting closer...........lots of talented NZ'rs out there, I have been busy busy busy, Finalising the site plan over next couple of days and will be in touch with confirmed stall holders soon about setting up etc I am still wading through interested crafty peoples emails who are interested in a site,never fear I will get there! I have had to start a waiting list .......but I may be able to put some keen people outside (if they have gazebos that is)
Thank you Kate and Kelly from Tempo for coming out to see us in Ohaupo - rather good article if I do say so myself - good thing Kate and Kelly came out when she did as my daughter Greer took to her fringe with scissors the day after they came so that wouldn't of looked so good in the photo!

I have had a great response from all you creative types out there!! Be in quick if you are thinking about being part of Craftmad - spaces are filling up!! Don't be afraid - you may just be starting out or wondering if you could turn your secret hobby into a little cash - I don't mind - all you have to do is send through some pics of your work and if it suits the market then I am keen to have you on board! Students,mummies,daddies, I know there are more of you out there, your work may be original, interesting, quirky even - thats what I want to see......

Welcome to the Craftmad blog!!
Craftmad is a craft and design market set up for artists,craftsters and designers to showcase and sell their work to the public - quality handmade and NZ designed works from talented people from around the Waikato and beyond.

We have secured a great indoor venue (thank you Rototuna school) and have a start date of Feb 7th 2010.

Places are filling steadily for this new market for Hamilton - if you are an artist, designer or craftster and think your product would suit this new market please email Steph at mikeandsteph@xtra.co.nz Products must be of high quality workmanship and made in NZ,please no food or produce stalls this is a dedicated craft market but.....if someone out there makes yummy little treats like cupcakes or choccies there may be space for you - and we will be getting a coffee vendor also.
